This sure smells like a viral marketing campaign. First there was news of an Origami Project website, then there were pictures of Microsoft’s alleged handheld video game console slash mobile computing device, and now a video promo of the device at YouTube and Google Video.

Leave it to Comedy Central. This Daily Show with Jon Stewart piece by Demetri Martin is the best explanation I’ve yet seen on social networking sites like MySpace.com. Not only is it a concise description of social networking sites, it’s hilarious. Since they are basically massive online communities of interest, they bear watching.

Late last month, Experience, Inc., a career services provider, released the results of a survey of college-educated 18 to 34 year-olds’ online shopping behavior. Experience claims that 18 to 34 year-olds are responsible for $175 billion in annual consumer spending.

Constant Contact’s survey of business owners, "2006 Small Business Valentine’s Day Outlook," shows that most respondents feeling rosy about the Valentine’s Day sales season: 55% expected strong sales leading up to February 14th, while 71% were expecting healthy online sales.
