After much dithering and procrastination, I’ve finally relaunched my Internet marketing blog with the goal of posting consistently on all topics related to Internet marketing.
That should give me enough material, as the field seems to be expanding exponentially. I know I should have a very narrow focus but that just doesn’t excite me all that much and if I’m going to post regularly, the topic will have to excite me.
A bit about myself:
My name is David Erickson. I founded e-strategy.com in 1997 as an Internet marketing firm. At the time, that meant designing web sites, submitting them to search engines and indexes, soliciting links, and building audiences at web boards and email discussion lists, developing content for email newsletters and online publications, and touch of online PR.
Nowadays, we do every kind of Internet marketing including search optimization and marketing, email marketing, blog marketing, video marketing, social network marketing, SMS marketing, online pr, and on and on.
Most of the people I know and know of who do Internet marketing come from a technology background. I come from a communications background and taught myself the technology. I got a degree in English and have worked as an advertising copywriter, at a market research firm, at a newspaper, and in the corporate world at Fortune 500 companies.
I also co-publish a weekly email newsletter devoted to Minnesota politics called Politics In Minnesota.
I’ve always looked at the Internet in all of its various forms as a communications vehicle rather than technology. And any writing teacher worth his salt will tell you to write about what you know. So an Internet marketing blog is a natural for me.
