Your Blog Is Made For Boys
That’s what a colleague (a female) told me not long ago: My blog was designed for boys. By which I’m pretty sure she meant, there’s too much stuff on it. It’s too cluttered.
Guilty.
This blog serves many purposes for me: It’s a virtual business card. It is part of my thought process. And it is a virtual sandbox that I can use to experiment with things.
As a result of that experimentation, the blog has grown by accretion, collecting badges and scripts and links and buttons over the years.
It’s time to clean house.
I’m taking a week off of work and during that week, I intend to redesign this blog, clean, tidy up, and get uncluttered.
So, please, bear with me.
On one hand, I can see her point. On the other, your traffic skews male (http://www.quantcast.com/e-strategyblog.com), so isn’t that a good thing?
Have fun with the redesign!
I’m not so sure the male skew is such a good thing, considering that the communications professions tend to be dominated by women. It will be interesting to see of the demographics change after the redesign. 🙂
