About

The e-Strategy Internet Marketing Blog is written by me, David Erickson.

I launched it in August, 2005 to share my thoughts about Internet marketing in particular and about the Internet’s role in communication in general.

I write about practical aspects of online communication, strategic communications, as well as share more reflective or speculative thoughts about how we behave online and how the Internet is changing the way we communicate and interact with one another.

I first became fascinated with computers after reading an article about ubiquitous computing where the authors postulated technology would eventually become practically invisible, giving us the computer’s power without us focusing on the computer itself in the way that eye glasses extend your sight but you don’t focus the lenses, you see through them.

Then, in 1994, I read about the first online political debate held here in Minnesota and the light bulb went off. I recognized how email and the Web could profoundly influence our political discourse and democracy.

I taught myself HTML and a year later, I was doing freelance Web site design with the idea that I would offer online marketing services as well. It was a novel idea at a time when most people had a “build it and they will come” mentality.

In the intervening years, I have conducted a wide variety of online campaigns that touched upon pretty much all aspects of Internet marketing.

It’s been a fun and fascinating ride thus far and it looks to get only more interesting.

At present, I am Director of e-Strategy for Tunheim Partners, a strategic communications firm based in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota. We offer public relations, public affairs, and e-Strategy services.

So, you know, if you need our services, don’t hesitate to contact me.
