APPLE STORES SELLING SQUARES

TechCrunch

No, I’m not talkin’ cigarettes.

The mobile payment system Square is processing $1 million in payments per day, TechCrunch reported in March.

They are signing up 100,000 merchants per month.

That compares to 30,000 monthly signups last Fall.

THOUGHT: Apple selling the card-swiping hardware in their retail outlets at $9.95 a pop should greatly accelerate adoption of the mobile payment system. Couple that with the simplification of the process that Square has figured out, and what this really amounts to is the beginning of the democractization of transactions. They’re removing the barriers for anyone to do business by making the most important aspect of doing business, the transfer of money, simple, easy, and painless.

Considering that the easiest way to employment for many in this tough environment is self-employment, this is no small development.

KEYWORD WEDNESDAY: Searches for “Royal Wedding” bumped up in volume in November of last year, maintained that level till February of this year when they roughly doubled in volume, then grew steadily till the first week of this month, when interest exploded.
