Artist pages average 92 Likes per post and only 17 comments.
Brand pages average 54 Likes and only 9 comments.
Media pages average only 57 Likes but a whopping 43 comments.
THOUGHT: The contrast between Artist, Brand and Media pages is instructive.
Artists–meaning, primarily, I presume, musicians–are posting content about their tours and album releases and their music videos. While they are content creators, the content they create usually doesn’t spark much conversation beyond the “I love that song!” variety.
Conversely, people can be passionate about their brands but they usually don’t have conversations about them unless prompted. And most brands aren’t prompting those conversations on Facebook, from what I can see.
Current events, on the other hand, have always been a topic of conversation so it should not be surprising to see prolific commenting on Facebook posts of media pages.
Lesson: Think of yourself as a media organization when creating content for your social media channels.
